Micrology Laboratories' coated Petri dish with Easygel® temperature-independent gelling media delivers better microbiology: dispersion.

Dispersion of the microbial load of a sample provides separation of the sample uniformly throughout the culture media, avoiding cluster colonies, producing more accurate results and calculation.

• The conventional Petri dish streak and pour plate method is antiquated, outdated, archaic microbiology. No dispersion: cluster colonies are the problem and may prevent isolation and identification of target organisms.

 

• Pour plate methods: hot agar cooks many organisms and causes thermal shock. Caution must be taken with this method to ensure that the targeted organism to be counted can withstand the temperatures associated with the melted agar. The pour plate method is labor intensive, exposes personnel to high temperature handling and requires expensive equipment: time consuming, expensive and antiquated, outdated, archaic microbiology. Easygel® temperature-independent gelling media delivers better microbiology faster and with lower cost. Pour plate methods: 45C hot agar will destroy many yeast and yeast like organisms.

 

• Films: no dispersion, no transparency some manufacturers suggest a Plate Reader. Cluster colonies are the problem and gas bubbles cloud the reading of the film, a factor in presumptive identification. Film are compared to conventional Petri dish microbiology not Easygel®. When compared to Easygel® temperature-independent gelling media and diluent methods there is no contest; Easygel® wins hands down.

 

• Color-producing chemicals: no help for cluster colonies.

 

• High-Sensitivity 1ml vs. 5 ml: useless without dispersion.
